big girl lola

lola has always been more of a skittish kitten. on the other hand, mini has been the epitome of codependency since day one -- always coming for snuggles, staying scooped in my arms for any length of time, and always sleeping by my side at night. when i first got lola, she was a little more affectionate. she used to sleep on her back with her belly exposed, and if i could catch her in the right mood, she would sleep on my stomach that way. as she grew up, and before mini came, she took to sleeping at my head during the night. but, the minibit came, and everything changed. lola never liked to be picked up, and now she absolutely hates it. she has not slept at my head once, except for the night before my birthday (her gift to me, i interpreted). over the last few days, she's been very weird with me -- exceptionally unfriendly and disinterested. i made a vow this morning that i'd figure out a way to win her heart back -- i miss her furry body clamped to my head at night.

however: right before i typed this, mini was taking a nap a foot away from me while lola napped behind us on the window ledge. to my surprise, lola suddenly jumped down on the couch, pushed mini out of the way, stretched her paws out on to my arm and curled up for a little nap next to me. she even let me rub her belly while she groomed herself and gave my hand a few sandpapery licks in the process. she has never, ever exhibited this type of behavior -- maybe there is hope for me and lola after all!
