oh bloody hell!

with another $200 vet bill behind me, i'm ready to sign up for pet insurance. note: if you do not enjoy reading about bowel-related issues, stop right this second.

so lola had been having bloody diarrhea for the past couple days; it isn't the first time i've noticed blood in her stool. mini, on the other hand, has been having really bulky and firm stool. so both went to the vet tonight. i was super lucky to see the owner of the practice; though i like dr. weiss, dr. ina was clearly much more knowledgeable and confident. both of them let me ask all the OCD-biologist questions i want to ask.

both have been put on eukanuba low-residue diet, which i'm unhappy about because a) it contains too many meat by-products and b) is owned by iams. lola tested for high numbers of gram-negative bacilli, while mini simply has bulky stool that could become a problem later. the low-residue diet is very low in fat and fiber and is supposed to help both of their problems.

so. now it is safe to say that our whole family has irritating (pun intended, ha ha) and sometimes serious digestive disorders. this is taking the owner/pet relationship a little too far.

ps: i have to give lola a pill 2X/day for 10 days. i'll start taking bets on a future post involving stitches on my fingers.

oh my goodness. Kitties, please, please be good and take good care of your health! Or, please let you mami take care of your health.
Now Auntie Alice is all worried. :/

auntie alice, you are the best. mami should have told you that even though we have problematic poo-poos, we are still acting like normal kittens -- beating each other up, running around the house like crazies, distributing mami's socks around the room, and playing soccer with our foil balls. what a life we have! love you, lolamini
